Privacy Policy

Effective from 27 October 2026

1. Controller

The controller of personal data processed in the Degu Breeding Registry at degus.eu (the “registry”) is Český svaz chovatelů, z. s. (Czech Breeders’ Association, “ČSCH”, “we”). For questions about personal data and to exercise your rights, contact info@degus.eu.

2. What data we process

  • Breeder account: name, e-mail, password (stored only as a secure hash), breeding station name and short code, membership card number, country, region, address, phone, website, social media links, logo, language and notification settings.
  • Breeding data: animal records (pedigree, colour, status, weights, health records, photos), litters, tasks and – where the module is enabled – finances, interested buyers and trades between breeders.
  • Sign in with Google: if you use it, we store your Google account identifier; the e-mail provided by Google is only used to match your existing account.
  • Technical data: last login date, change history of records (who changed what and when), web push subscriptions, logs of bulk e-mails sent, and standard server logs (IP address, time, requested page).
  • Analytics: only with your consent in the cookie banner (Google Analytics).

3. Why and on what legal basis

  • Keeping the registry, pedigrees and breeding records and running your account – membership and contractual obligations and ČSCH’s legitimate interest in keeping breeding records (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
  • Task reminders by e-mail and push notifications – legitimate interest; you can turn them off in your profile.
  • Security and change history – legitimate interest in protecting the registry and tracing edits.
  • Visitor analytics – your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time in the cookie settings.

4. Who can see the data

  • The public: the breeder profile (name, station name, town and region, country, website, logo and contact e-mail) and animals offered for sale.
  • Logged-in breeders: animal and pedigree records in the registry.
  • Registry administrators and commissioners: to the extent needed to run the registry and check compliance with the breeding rules.

Data is also processed by the technical services the registry depends on: the server the registry runs on, the e-mail delivery service, and Google (Sign in with Google, analytics with consent). We do not sell data or use it for advertising.

5. How long

Account data is kept for as long as the account exists. Animal and pedigree records form part of the breeding records on which other animals’ pedigrees depend, so they are kept long-term, even after an account is closed; contact details are removed on request. Server logs are deleted regularly.

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies for signing in (session, “remember me” for 1 week), language, colour theme and storing your cookie choice. Analytics cookies are set only after you consent.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict processing, to data portability (data export is available in your profile), to object and to withdraw consent. If you believe we process your data unlawfully, you can lodge a complaint with the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (uoou.gov.cz) or your local supervisory authority.

8. Changes

We may update this policy; the current version is always on this page.
